Using 4 '-aminoazobenzene-4-sulfonic acid as raw material, N-dimethylaminoazobenzene-4-sulfonic acid is made by methylation; then phosphorus pentachloride is used for acylation to prepare 4-dimethylaminophenyl azobenzenesulfonyl chloride; 4-dimethylaminophenyl azobenzenesulfonyl chloride and hydrazide undergo amidation reaction to obtain dansyl hydrazide.
